400G OSFP Transceivers and Its Fiber Type and Connector Type

The OSFP stands for an “Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable”. It is described as an “Octal” module because the electrical interface of an OSFP connector consists of 8 electrical lanes, running at 50Gb/s each, for a total of bandwidth of 400Gb/s.

OSFP SR8, 8x50G Optical transceiver module is designed for use in 400 Gigabit links over 100m multimode fiber. They are compliant with the OSFP MSA. Digital diagnostics functions are available via the I2C interface, as specified by the OSFP MSA.

OSFP DR4, 4x100G Optical transceiver module is designed for use in 400 Gigabit links over 500m single mode fiber. They are operating on 1310nm wavelength, and are compliant with the OSFP MSA. Digital diagnostics functions are available via the I2C interface, as specified by the OSFP MSA.

OSFP FR4, 4x100G Optical transceiver module is designed for use in 400 Gigabit links over 2km single mode fiber. They are operating on CWDM4 wavelength, and are compliant with the OSFP MSA. Digital diagnostics functions are available via the I2C interface, as specified by the OSFP MSA.

OSFP LR4, 4x100G Optical transceiver module is designed for use in 400 Gigabit links over 10km single mode fiber. They are operating on LAN-WDM wavelength, and are compliant with the OSFP MSA. Digital diagnostics functions are available via the I2C interface, as specified by the OSFP MSA.
