Introduction to VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal)

VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) is the best solution when terrestrial connectivity is not available or cannot meet your communication needs. Offering converged communications, always-on connectivity anywhere and anytime across multiple geographies, our VSAT is a two way satellite ground station with a dish antenna smaller than three metres.

VSAT gives you the freedom to connect to any remote site across the African continent, via a dedicated ‘always-on’ satellite connection. We have three main VSAT product groups, namely Business Enterprise Services, Business Continuity Services and Broadband Services, all of which are available in a number of package options.

Equipments required for VSAT IP System

Outdoor equipments:

This depends on specific geographical areas and demand of customers. There are three sizes for options:

  • VSAT-IP antenna 1.2 M Station
  • VSAT-IP antenna 1.8 M Station
  • VSAT-IP antenna 2.4 M Station- Fast Ethernet 10/100 BaseT (RJ45)

Indoor Equipments: Designed with low cost and small, including:

  • RJ11
  • USB 1.1
  • AC 220 V

Customers:

  • Rural, remote and mountainous areas….
  • Organizations with demand of back-up connections

Technology-wise, internet access can be provided via ADSL or fiber optic Copper (Fiber To The Home/FTTH), radio access and VSAT. Copper network (FTTH) and radio access the mainstay for operators in urban areas. But in remote areas, VSAT is the mainstay due to difficulties in developing the network. Thanks to the VSAT, customer from rural area can be connected directly to the satellite.
